The ABC’s of Happiness

smileyHappiness is not something ready made.

It comes from your own actions.

~ The Dalai Lama

Attitude – What mindset do you hold each day as you interact with friends, family, and co-workers or clients?  What is the level of gratitude that you bring into your life and relationships each day?

Beliefs – What is most important to you in your life, your work, your family? And even your after work activities?  You can find joy and fulfillment in everything that you do when you are clear what you believe about what you do.  Sometimes work can be the most fulfilling and sometimes the time with family, and sometimes the way you play on the weekends.  The levels of satisfaction may not always be equal – and so the important thing is that you are doing and living what you find meaningful in your life.

Creativity Where do you go to intentionally expand your life in meaningful ways?  Some people have discovered that taking time to color in a coloring book puts them in such a state of relaxation that they start living in theta during the process and ultimately find their own creative ideas flowing forth.  What you choose could be meditation, it could be hiking, it could be anything that takes you out of the world of what has become ordinary and out into the Field – that is where you get to play.

Happiness always comes from within – it is not something someone can give us or make happen. Happiness is something you allow to flow forth from your own Self.
Did you know that there is actually a scale that researchers use to assess the happiness levels of not only people – but of countries.

Recent statistics on happiness and a sense of fulfillment reported on the Life Satisfaction scale – demonstrate that the highest values for happiness include health, community, good work-life balance, strong support networks, and enjoyment.

The top countries for these aspects are the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Switzerland, Austria, and Canada.

So – living a fulfilled life, having friends, and having fun is actually the prescription for being successful – this is a universal truth.
